A woman who beat her sons with a cord and belt wins praise from officials, who say more parents should discipline their children.

 Schaquana Spears
A mother from Louisiana who was arrested for whipping three of her children after they burgled a neighbour's house has been hailed as a model parent by senior state officials.
Mother-of-six Schaquana Spears, 30, was detained on Monday in Baton Rouge on a charge of child cruelty.
She allegedly used an electrical cord and a belt to whip her sons, aged 13, 12 and 10, leaving them with cuts and bruises.
But in the wake of her arrest, which saw her children taken away, Spears has received an outpouring of support.
Louisiana State Treasurer John Kennedy said she should not have been arrested for disciplining her children and that it was "ludicrous" to take them from her.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has also said he is grateful his mother hit him to teach right from wrong.
East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore said in statement he would be reviewing all the material in the case before making a decision on whether to formally file criminal charges.
Mr Moore said: "Parents have the right and obligation to discipline and teach their children.
"We often time see children who have no parental authority or discipline which eventually results in delinquency and criminal acts.
"We need more parents who discipline their children.
"Surely you would expect a parent to discipline a child who is burglarising other people’s homes as this could be a deadly encounter for the child."
Speaking following her arrest, Spears told WBRZ she felt she had been made to look like a "bad guy for trying to discipline my kids and showing them right from wrong".
She added: "It's been hell. I never could imagine that trying to be a good mother would end me up in jail with a criminal record like I'm a predator out to hurt my kids who I live for."
Spears' neighbour, Alisa Nicholson, who lives in the house allegedly broken into by the children, told WBRZ she felt "so bad" because she thought Spears "did what she was supposed to do".
She said: "Her kids broke into a house that they could've got killed at, or the police could've seen them going in and shot them.
"And I feel so bad that all this had to happen from her whooping her kids for them breaking them into someone's home - which is very dangerous, especially these days."
